Are RHA Dermal Fillers The Next Best Thing?
- Posted on: Dec 15 2021
Many people who are interested in managing their signs of aging want to do so as naturally as possible. Facial and eye rejuvenation surgeries may not be the path that you want to take, and you may have been hesitant about injectable treatments, too. That may be about to change. Recently, a new group of dermal fillers call RHA fillers was developed, and patients are noticing a host of benefits. Here, we’ll discuss why RHA®, Resilient Hyaluronic Acid fillers, may be exactly what you’ve been waiting for.
What are RHA Fillers?
The RHA line is made by Revance. This group of FDA-approved dermal fillers has been designed for the correction of dynamic wrinkles and creases. Historically, dynamic wrinkles have been treated with neuromodulators like BOTOX, Xeomin, and Dysport. All of these products are based on small amounts of purified botulinum toxin. Some people have a negative reaction to this substance, such as temporary flu-like symptoms. Some people simply do not want to put a neurotoxin, albeit a mild one, into their bodies. Resilient Hyaluronic Acid fillers in the Revance Collection don’t paralyze the muscles, they work with them. Moreover, because the process involved in making RHA fillers is less than that required for other hyaluronic acid fillers, this line is looked at as cleaner with fewer instances of side effects.
The RHA Collection includes 3 different types of filler. These include:
- RHA 2, designed to treat superficial lines and wrinkles including frown lines, crow’s feet, smile lines, and vertical lip lines.
- RHA 3, designed to treat deeper lines and creases including nasolabial folds around the nose and mouth and the corners of the mouth.
- RHA 4, designed to treat the most significant lines as well as the cheek area that is depleted in volume and contouring.
Benefits of RHA Dermal Fillers
A study in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology revealed that patients treated with RHA fillers noted specific aesthetic benefits compared to standard HA fillers. These include results duration of up to 15 months, wrinkle correction and volume restoration, and more subtle side effects like swelling.
