What is SKINVIVE™?

SKINVIVE™ is an injectable medication that improves the skin’s smoothness on a patient’s cheeks. This product contains hyaluronic acid (HA) microdroplets that benefit the skin on a cellular level. Made by JUVÉDERM®, SKINVIVE is the first (and remains the only) HA microdroplet injectable approved by the FDA.

SKINVIVE is effective at increasing hydration to improve the skin’s suppleness and smoothness. This injectable medication delivers hyaluronic acid deep into skin tissue to provide a long-lasting glow that can last for up to six months.

Additionally, SKINVIVE is also clinically-proven. Participants in a clinical study were asked how radiant their skin looked before and after treatment with SKINVIVE. The participants reported higher satisfaction after treatment with SKINVIVE than before regarding the glowing, hydrated, refreshed, and healthy appearance of their skin.

What to Expect from The SKINVIVE Procedure

You’ll start by chatting with one of our highly experienced plastic surgeons to review your medical history and treatment goals. We’ll also examine your facial skin and take photos, which will help us determine if you are a good candidate for SKINVIVE. If so, we’ll review your options for pain management.

Next, we’ll clean your skin and prepare it with an antiseptic. We may use a pen to mark the intended treatment areas.

After your first injection, we’ll wait a few seconds. Since SKINVIVE contains a small amount of lidocaine to reduce discomfort at the injection site, waiting a few moments gives the anesthetic time to take effect. We’ll then inject several microdroplets into the treatment area then massage the treated area to ensure equal distribution of the product. We’ll finish by applying ice to the treatment area to decrease discomfort and minimize swelling.

For best results, avoid alcoholic beverages, strenuous exercise, and exposure to extensive heat and sun, as these may trigger temporary redness, itching, or swelling at the injection site.

SKINVIVE provides results over the next six months without the need for repeat treatments. You can extend the cosmetic benefits of SKINVIVE by having touchups every six months.

Am I a Good Candidate for SKINVIVE?

The FDA has approved SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM injectable gel to improve skin smoothness of the cheeks in patients who are ages 21 and over. This treatment is safe and effective for all skin types. Do not use SKINVIVE if you:

• Have a history of multiple severe allergies or anaphylaxis, which is a severe allergic reaction
• Are allergic to lidocaine
• Are allergic to the Gram-positive bacteria used in this produce
• Have a history of allergic reactions to hyaluronic acid fillers

Risks Associated with SKINVIVE

Our providers will review any risks associated with SKINVIVE™ before we start treatment.

All dermal filler injections carry a very small risk of unintentional injection of medication into the blood Contact us right away if you have changes in your vision, signs of a stroke, changes in skin color, or unusual pain during or immediately following treatment.

Postpone treatment if you have any skin sores, pimples, rashes, hives, cysts, or infections. These may slow healing or worsen existing skin problems.
